July 18 (Reuters) – Slack said on Monday it would raise prices on its platform, the first such increase for the workplace messaging app since it launched in 2014, as the company seeks to improve on innovation. Invest more.

The company said in a blog post that the pricing changes will go into effect on September 1 and will only affect users with a Slack Pro subscription.

According to the company, monthly Pro subscriptions will increase from $8 to $8.75, and annual Pro subscriptions will increase from $6.67 to $7.25 per month.

Slack, which allows individuals to create instant group conversations, said it will also update its free subscription plan to make it easier for users to try out new features, including Clips, allowing anyone to send audio and video and screen-sharing direct messages and messages in channels.

Slack, owned by Salesforce (CRM.N), has become a common online workplace messaging tool used by many companies.
