Former Democratic congresswoman and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard slammed Vice President Kamala Harris over marijuana prosecutions after Harris condemned Russia’s jailing of WNBA star Britney Greener on marijuana charges Record.

“Another hypocritical note from Kamala Harris and this administration is that you mention in her outstanding record as California attorney general…she kept prisoners in jail for longer than they did sentence for using them as free slave labor, but at the same time these people are condemning other countries for doing the same,” Gabbard told Fox News host Will Kane.

Griner was sentenced this week to nine years in prison by a Russian court after he was caught with a marijuana vaping pen at an airport near Moscow earlier this year.

The verdict drew widespread condemnation from U.S. officials, including Harris, who said she was working to secure Greener’s release.

“With today’s verdict, Russia continues to illegally detain Britney Greener. She should be released immediately,” Harris tweeted on Thursday. “@POTUS I, and our entire administration, work every day to reunite Britney and Paul Whelan with loved ones who miss each of them so much. “

Gabbard noted that she also opposed Griner’s sentencing, saying that Harris’ tweet “shocks me” that her administration is not expressing the same sentiment toward those accused of marijuana crimes in the country.

“Where’s your anger at your fellow Americans who are in jail in the United States of America today?” Gabbard said. “Why don’t you fight as hard as you did for Britney Greener to get them home and reunite them with their families.”

Gabbard added that she believes Harris’ message is that the rich and powerful in America will be treated differently than the average American when it comes to prosecuting marijuana crimes.

“Unfortunately, like many politicians, she seems to have fallen on deaf ears, deciding what she should be angry with on any given day, and if it becomes politically inconvenient or disruptive, then she changes course,” Gabbard spoke about Harris prosecuting marijuana offenders as California attorney general.

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
