Alex Jones declares victory in defamation trial despite losses of over $4 million

A second verdict has been reached in the trial of Infowars founder and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. A jury in Austin, Texas, decided Thursday that he must pay more than $4 million in damages to the parents of six-year-old Jesse Lewis Jr., who was killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre. On Friday, they ordered Jones to pay an additional $45.2 million in punitive damages.

Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis have filed a defamation lawsuit against Jones, claiming that the school shooting that Jones claimed killed 20 children and six adults was a hoax.

The pair gave impassioned testimony from the witness box about how Jones’ lie – spread to millions – affected their lives and prolonged their grief.

Jones now faces another trial in Texas by the parents of another victim and another in Connecticut for the families of eight other victims.

It was discovered during the trial that his own lawyers had mistakenly shared the full contents of Jones’ phone with the opposition legal team, which was asked to make it available to the Jan. 6 committee.

Jones remains defiant after court orders him to pay millions

Alex Jones is back on TV almost immediately after being ordered to pay grieving Sandy Hook parents nearly $50 million – and he continues to insist that when he accused George Soros and ‘Agents’ of his These decks work against him when the law is in trouble.

The contempt was in stark contrast to the red-faced, slack-jawed shock that appeared on Mr Jones’ face during the trial, when his lawyers mistakenly sent the damning evidence to opposing lawyers.

This week, the Infowars media mogul, estimated to be worth about $270 million by an economist witness, lost the first of several trials against him for spreading conspiracy theories and misinformation. He has repeatedly insisted that the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut — when a gunman killed 20 children aged 6 and 7 at an elementary school — was a hoax.

Jones bizarrely calls $4.1 million Sandy Hook verdict a ‘triumph of truth’

The bombastic Infowars presenter still declared victory after a jury verdicted Alex Jones’ defamation damages trial and ordered him to pay the plaintiff $4.1m (£3.4m) in damages.

Mr Jones has been taken to court by the parents of Sandy Hook massacre victim Jesse Lewis, six-year-old Neil Hessling and Scarlett Lewis, as they claim they were charged with claiming the 2012 mass shooting was a hoax.

While the amount awarded by the jury was well below the $150m (£124m) sought by the plaintiffs, it was far more than the $8 (£6.6m) offered by Mr Jones’ lawyers – one dollar per charge against him.

Roger Stone claims lawyer deliberately leaked Alex Jones texts

Roger Stone, a Trump ally and self-described political “dirty liar”, has accused lawyers of Infowars host Alex Jones of knowingly leaking the contents of the right-wing broadcaster’s cell phone during the recent Sandy Hook defamation trial.

On Friday, Mr. Stone posted on Telegram highlighting how Mr. Jones’ attorney, Andino Reynal, worked for the Obama-era Justice Department.

“Now do you think it was ‘unintentional’ or a mistake that he posted Jones’ text messages? If I were Jones, I would charge this man for the exact same amount as the jury charged him,” Mr Stone wrote.

VOICE ONE: Alex Jones gets payoff in Sandy Hook defamation trial – finally

There is nothing more comforting in this world than seeing a bad guy get his retribution. The joy of seeing a person being devalued after “getting away with it” many times is more beneficial to one’s mind and body than vegetables and religion. But over the past few years, a lot of high-profile people haven’t really felt the consequences. Bad guys don’t really get their karma anymore. They get book deals, or a TV show, or elected prime minister. Bad guys get rich.

Unless your name is Alex Jones, which is to say, in which case the bad guys get humiliated time and time again in an extremely public forum, and then taken to the underdogs they used to make a name for themselves cleaners there.
