A week after Donald Trump threatened to sue CNN, the former US president asked supporters on his email list to donate to help him fight his lawsuit against the outlet.

Mr Trump said late last month that he would sue CNN and “other media outlets” to dismiss his voter fraud charges.

In a 282-page letter sent last month by the former U.S. president’s lawyer to CNN President Chris Licht, the lawyer argued that the cable network defamed Trump, saying He is a liar on unsubstantiated voter fraud allegations and “has been issuing a denunciation of President Trump’s legitimacy and competence.”

The letter includes a collection of articles and radio reports that Mr Trump claims are false and defamatory.

“CNN’s reporting, both before and after the election, has been promoting a narrative that condemns President Trump’s legitimacy and competence,” the letter states.

“I have informed CNN that I intend to sue them for their repeated defamatory comments against me,” Trump said in a statement from the Save America PAC.

He said he would also “take action against other media outlets that slandered me and deceived the public during the 2020 election due to substantial evidence of fraud.”

Now, in a new fundraising email from the former president, he reportedly called on his “best and most loyal supporters” to add their names, “in my upcoming lawsuit against Fake News CNN. stand with me.”

The email, titled “Let’s Sue CNN,” states, “Add your name immediately to show your support for my upcoming lawsuit against Fake News CNN,” according to The Daily Beast.

“I’m going to look at the names of the top 45 Patriots who added their own names to publicly support their president,” a second email reportedly said hours later, when sent to supporters on his email list. Against CNN.”
