Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., dismissed reports that Democrats were dropping coronavirus testing in order to get the largest number of senators to vote on the party’s social spending and tax bills Saturday night.
“No. Oh please,” Warren said when asked if she was told not to be told not to get tested for the coronavirus in order to participate in Saturday’s “Vote Rama.” “Republicans are worried about the coronavirus from Democrats, Republicans don’t wear masks. Republicans don’t test, Republicans test positive and still show up. They’re just omnipotent about their political game skills, I tell you.”
Warren’s comments came amid rumors that Democrats have eased coronavirus testing to ensure all senators are in attendance to pass the Inflation Reduction Act as part of a marathon voting schedule scheduled to take place overnight Saturday.
The reports drew criticism from Republicans on social media, including from Congressman Thomas Massey.

“The same day Biden tested positive for coronavirus, he said he was coming to Kentucky, while Senate Democrats admitted they didn’t test themselves for coronavirus because they would come to work even if they tested positive ,” Marcy tweeted. “End Emergency Declarations, PREP Act and all mandates! “

A vote to advance Democrats’ social spending and tax bills passed Saturday night, followed by a marathon puller vote after live debates, followed by a final vote on legislation expected sometime Sunday.

The total vote was 51-50, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie.

Harris is not expected to be needed because several Republicans were out of town and missed the polls that took place earlier Saturday. But by the end of Saturday night’s polls, all GOP members were back in town.

“What would voting Rama be like? It’s like hell,” Sen. Lindsey Graham of RS.C. said at a news conference Thursday. “They deserve it. Although I admire Joe Manchin and Sinema for stepping up against the radical left at times, they are giving legislative powers This will make life more difficult for ordinary people. ”
