Messi saved Leandro Paredes’s pinpoint pass from his chest after a goal in the 80th minute to extend the club’s lead to 4-0 , followed his season-opening scoring in style. Then, with his back to Clermont goalkeeper Maury Diaw, Messi wowed the crowd at the Gabriel-Monpid Stadium with a superb left-footed bicycle kick.
Defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain won 5-0 in their first league game under new manager Christophe Galtier, an acrobatic highlight that capped the game. Messi ended the game with two goals and an assist.

PSG relied heavily on Messi and Neymar, who scored the first goal and assisted the next three as they started their season without the injured Kylian Mbappe. The star striker missed Saturday with an adductor injury and missed last week’s 4-0 win over Nantes to win the trophy due to suspension.
