A traveler tried to hide a marijuana pod in a jar of peanut butter, TSA officials said.
A spokesman said in a tweet that TSA agents at Pittsburgh International Airport in Pennsylvania found the cartridges in travelers’ checked bags after “shooting an alarm.”
TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said on Thursday: “Three vaping cans wrapped in plastic bags containing marijuana were removed from the cans as a @TSA officer investigated why it caused a panic.” tweet.
“TSA is not looking for drugs, but when they are found during routine screening, they contact the police,” Farbstein added. “The traveler told the officer that the jars were for medical purposes, but still thinks he should try to hide them. Not a good decision.”

It was not immediately clear if the traveler with marijuana was charged with any crime. A TSA spokesman did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment on Sunday.
However, the agency did use photos of the incident to issue a cheeky warning to other travelers on social media.
“When our baggage inspectors @PITairport With this jarring discovery, you believe this passenger finds himself in trouble. We will spread this awareness widely! ” A TSA account in Instagram.
The TSA said in the post that travelers can carry vape cartridges in their carry-on luggage as long as they are not “full of THC like the e-liquid pictured.”
“Well, instead of roasting them in peanut butter, it’s better to leave them at home. While our officers did not search for those vapes directly, if they are found to be marijuana, they must be reported to law enforcement,” the agency said on Instagram Say.
