On ABC News’ “This Week” on Sunday, U.S. Democratic chief Yvette Simpson called on “overwhelmingly” unpopular President Joe Biden not to run for re-election so Vice President Kamara Harris could replace him.

Simpson believes a “strong” vice president “must” be the next presidential candidate, lamenting that Biden has not kept his word.

“I think [Biden] Shouldn’t be running,” Simpson declared. “I mean, you know, he’s very small, absolutely overwhelming. Polls show that Democrats do not want him to run. I mean, when people gathered around him to be president, people expected him not to run again, he would actually authorize someone to run. Who that person will be, I don’t know. “

Host George Stephanopoulos interrupted: “Didn’t you say Kamala Harris is the obvious heir?”

“She should be,” Simpson replied. “I don’t know if she’s capable of that. She’s supposed to be in a strong position to really be someone who can lead and she’s been behind. I think she should be empowered to be a leader. She’s strong. She Very young. She’s able to gain energy but we haven’t seen her strong and I don’t know why a Biden administration hasn’t positioned her that way. Must be her because skip the VP especially the first black and Asian woman The vice president will cause anger.”

She continued, “But they’ve got to do a lot of work to get her in this seat so we can see how strong she is, and that’s what we should be doing right now — not with a handful of people in Biden. At the same time he has definitely been hit by not delivering on his bipartisan promises and not getting the kind of job he said he would do.”
